Matt's story begins in Saipan, then Hawai'i and now Seattle / Olympia. His artist name is Sabyu. He is a guitarist, producer, engineer, mentor, teacher, and singer-songwriter. He creates and plays music to bring all walks of life together in the name of love, spirit, and humanity.
Matt studied at UW Seattle and earned a bachelor's degree in Ethnomusicology with a certificate in Audio Engineering. He has worked as a UW Sound Studio Instructor, Summer Skills teacher with Seattle Public Schools, and as a recording engineer for The Residency Sessions (collaboration with The Residency, Arts Corps, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis).
Matt was first introduced to Totem Star after attending The Story with Prometheus Brown in 2016 and has been involved in the Totem Star studio since.
